AMERICAN FEDERATION OF GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES LOCAL 1206
As a result of a voluntary agreement between the department of labor and AFGE, an election for the offices of president, vice-president and secretary-treasurer will be held under the supervision of the Department of Labor. Per section 17 of Local 1206's bylaws, the president, vice-president and secretary-treasurer are delegates by virtue of office to the National Convention, District Caucus and National Council meetings. The term of office will be for the remainder of the term that began in April 2009 and which will end in April 2012. The election will be conducted in accordance with Title IV of the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act (LMRDA) of 1959 and the Civil Service Reform Act, and insofar as lawful and practicable with the constitution and bylaws of AFGE Local 1206.
The Local 1206 membership has voted to use the election services of UniLect Corporation for this election.
Your envelope should contain the following: one ballot, one secret ballot envelope and one envelope addressed to the post office box at the Fairfield Post Office.
Voting instruction are printed on the secret ballot envelope.
Please read them carefully before marking your ballot.
Do not write in the names of any candidates. Do not place your name, initials or any other identifying information on the ballot. Ballots containing identifying information will be VOIDED.
Representatives of UniLect Corporation, the U.S. Department of Labor and the local 1206 Election Committee will collect the ballots at 11:00am on Friday April 9,2010, at the Fairfield Post Office, 600 Kentucky St. Fairfield, CA. The tally of the ballots will start immediately after the ballots have been transported to the Hilton Garden Inn, 2200 Gateway Ct. in Fairfield. Ballots may NOT be hand delivered to the tally site. Only ballots received through the mail will be counted. In case of a tie, the winner will be determined by a coin toss following the tally.
In order to have your ballot counted you must be current in dues as of 5:00pm on April 2, 2010. New members who have submitted a signed 1187 to the secretary-treasurer by 5:00pm on April 2, 2010 will be in good standing. If you do not receive a ballot by March 24,2010 or you spoil your ballot, you may request a duplicate ballot. Make your request by phone to UniLect, Tel: 1-888-UNILECT (1-888-864-5328). Requests for a duplicate ballot may be made at any time since the voice mail is available 24 hours. The request for a duplicate ballot should include the following: name, address, phone number and the reason why you need duplicate. Duplicate ballots must be requested no later than 5:00pm on Friday April 2, 2010.
Any member in good standing may protest the supervised election of officers directly to the DOL Election Supervisor at any time during the election process. Protests must be in writing and must be received no later than 5:00pm on Monday April 19, 2010.
